Observation shots: Jumping for joy
For these photos I took a photo of my sister standing in front of a brick wall, one photo I off her standing in the far corner with a lot of space left around her, the next photo is of her slightly more into the middle jumping up into the air and finally the third picture is of her standing slightly in the middle with her hands out. The aim was to take 3 photos that could be put together to look as if she's jumping right in front of us, her past and present actions all in one photo. I edited this photo by cropping, levelling the colours and by adding sepia to all 3 photos. I like these photos because they're interesting and by putting all 3 side by side shows their potential and what could be done with them. To improve these photo's I could of used interesting angles for the last 2 photos. From making these photos I have learnt to use interesting angles to improve your photos.
For these photos, the aim again was to create a photo of her jumping up and landing. I went up to Trafalgar Square to take these shots. The first photo is of her standing far up the stairs, to the left and hands by her side. The second shot is of her further down the stairs and jumping up into the air. The last shot is of her near the very bottom of the stairs, with her head tilted and her hand underneath her tilted face. I edited these photos by cropping and levelling the colours. I like these photos because of the different setting. To improve these photos I could have blurred the background to get rid of the background clutter. From taking these shots I have learnt that the setting of your photo is always very important to create a beautiful photo.
Observation shot: Horror
For these photos the theme was horror so I took photos of my sister in front of a brick wall at night. For the first photo I positioned her in the far left corner with all her hair over her face, next photo is of her slightly in the middle, slightly closer to the camera with her hands by her side and still with her hair over her face and the last photo was off her standing much closer to the camera and standing in the right corner with her hands by her side, her hair now by her side revealing her face and with a straight face. I edited these photos by cropping, levelling the colours and by adding black and white to all 3 photos. I like these photos because of the lighting and the right timing, I took these photos at night which allowed me to capture shadows, which helped pull of my theme of horror of nicely. The setting was right as well as it helped a lot with the horror theme. To improve these photos I could of gotten rid of objects that were in her hand or maybe re taken the first photo with her hands by her side instead. From these photos I have learnt to always try include a certain mood or theme that helps to improve the photo and make it interesting, I have also learnt to use lighting a lot more often to improve my photos.
For these photos the aim was to use window reflections to make an interesting photo. The first photo is of my model facing the window, with her hands by her side, the second shot is of her slightly turned towards the wall and the final photo is of her turned away, facing the wall. I edited these photos by cropping and levelling the colours. I like these photos a lot because of window reflection idea. To improve these photos I could of had her do more interesting actions. From making these photos I have learnt to always be creative with your observations shots as it will help you make an even better development.
Observation shots: Action
For these photos I took a photo of my sister in front of a white background with her hand in front of her face, as if saluting to the camera, the second photo is of her slightly turned towards to the left and with her hand slightly further away from her face and finally a photo of her twisted to the left with her hand outstretched. The aim of these photos was to take 3 shots of her basically doing a big salute. I edited these photos by cropping, levelling the colours and by adding a filter called old photo. I like these photos because of the shadows caused by the lighting I used. To improve these photo's I could of maybe used 2 people in my photos to maybe make it more interesting or tried out a different filter. From making these photos I have learnt to always use lighting if not artificial use natural light, which you have to time perfectly to create the right lights and tones.
For these photos I had my model stand at the top of the stairs with one hand holding the railing and her right hand by her side. The second shot is of her standing slightly further down the stairs, to the left, with one hand holding the railing and her right hand by her side. The last shot is of her standing closer to the camera, to the right and with her fist pointed towards the camera. I edited these photos by cropping, adding black and white and by levelling the colours. I like these photos because of the interesting action. To improve this photo I could of kept the natural colours to make the photo stand out more. From making these photos I have learnt that colours are very important to represent a certain mood and also the settings used are always important.
Observation shots: Props
For these photos the aim was to use props to create an interesting photo. For the first photo I took a picture of my sister sitting at a table with fake flowers in front of her face, sniffing the flowers, the second photo is of her face slightly hidden by the flowers and looking at the camera, the last photo is off her looking slightly at the camera with the flowers away from her by a bit. I edited these photos by cropping and levelling the colours. I like these photos because they're interesting and I like the colours that the flowers brought to the photos. To improve these photos I could of taken photos of her with real flowers maybe in a garden. From making these photos I have learnt to make sure everything in the photos fit together well, meaning that they all fit a certain theme or mood.
Observation shots: weird
For these photos I took close up photos of my model standing in a corridor with light pointing onto her. For the first photo I took photos of her standing with her body twisted away from the camera, but still looking at the camera with her lipped curled up and with her hands up by her side and outstretched, the second photo is of her slightly turned closer to the camera with her lip stilled curled and her hand slightly closer to the camera and the final photo is of her with her body facing the camera with her lip curled with her hand in front of her in a straight line. I edited this photo by cropping, levelling the colour and by adding a filter called old photo. I like these photos because of the lighting used in each photo. To improve these photos I could of used a better camera to take the photos. From making these photos I have learnt that the camera used is very important and to always use some form of lighting in my photos.
Observation shots: On the floor
For these photos I took a photo of my sister on a carpeted floor. The images were taken at night with a huge window behind me so the dark light pointing onto her. The first image is of her kneeling on the floor with her hands on her lap and facing the wall in front of her, the second image is of her leaning forward with her hands in front of her, the last image is of her with both hands in front of her body. I edited this photo by cropping, levelling the colours and by adding black and white. I like these photo's because of the light and tone which created shadows on the photos, I also like these photos because they're interesting shots. For these photos to improve them I could of taken the shots in a dark room and used a torch to create even better light and tone shots. From these photos I have learnt to try out interesting angles and to take photos in different places so that the pictures will be interesting. I have also learnt that the area or place you take the photo is important for the image of the photo.
Observation shots: in front of the curtain
For these photos I placed my model in front of the shower curtain in the bathroom and I placed a lamp on the floor, on the left pointing up at her. For the first photo my model is looking down, the second photo her face is up but her eyes are closed and the final photo is of her opening her eyes. I edited these photos by cropping, adding black and white and by levelling the colours. I like these photos because of the lighting used and also because the photos are clear and are not blurred at all. To improve these photos I could of had model do different, more interesting actions to make them even more better. From taking these shots I have learnt that lighting is always important to take good photos.
